Program Requirements
Eligible applicant businesses include, but are not limited to:
- Apparel/clothing

Beauty & skincare products
- Candles
- Gift cards/stationary

Handbags, totes, etc.

Handmade crafts, such as glass blowing, ceramic/pottery, antique reclamation, knitting, sewing, crochet, etc.

Home goods, including recycled or green products for the home

Home furnishings

Inspirational products (journals, artwork, bags)

Jewelry

Party supplies
- Shoes (handmade and unique)
- Toys and games, hobbies
- Vintage and repurposed merchandise
Participants must be able to commit to the following:
- Maintain a minimum inventory level for three months.
- Have the financial capacity to invest in a Point of Sale (POS) system.
- Have the capacity to get the Sales Tax License.
- Work at the MWBC Shop Local storefront for at least one day per week, one Sunday every six weeks, and availability for holiday shifts as per schedule.
- Allocate one hour per month for technical assistance, attending three hours of training sessions monthly, and participating in one or two follow-up meetings with the cohort each month.
- Maintain 100% focus on the business.
- Ensure the business is registered with the state of Maryland as a corporation, LLC, or DBA/sole proprietor.
- Maintain good standing with the state of Maryland.
- Hold General Liability Insurance (details will be provided).
- Cover incubation fees of $250 per month.
